Jersey Shore Fishing: It's time for stripers
A lot of time was lost to northeasters, but the long term benefit of getting the fall striped bass season underway may make up for that. Boaters have been trolling some bass at Shrewsbury Rocks, and the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands has been doing well on its night trip on live eels.

Jersey Shore Fishing: Prospects good despite Matthew
Unless there's a major change in direction, it appears that Hurricane Matthew won't be a major problem for the Shore other than in flood-prone areas. There's even a reduction in the northeast winds that had been a problem earlier in the week.

Jersey Shore Fishing: NE wind forecasts reduced
Even as a hurricane threatens states far south of us there was good news in the local weather forecast that reduced northeast wind predictions considerably after small craft warnings come down by Thursday evening. The weekend that looked terrible, now seems to be fine before gusty winds hit Sunday and Monday.

Jersey Shore Fishing: Big blues show again
The Golden Eagle from Belmar returned to the same area where big blues had been before the northeaster, and got into them again. No volume was specified, but those boated were from 10 to 18 pounds.

Capt. Dave De Gennaro saw a bg improvement in Barnegat Bay weakfishing today from his Hi Flier out of Barnegat. Only one weak had been caught Thursday afternoon, when the skipper had to move to the west side to bail out with blowfish.

A New Jersey driver who struck and killed a teenage girl last year has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Monmouth County prosecutors say the 50-year-old Middletown resident faces up to seven years in prison when she's sentenced Dec. 2. Prosecutors say Marletta was driving with three 16-year-old girls in her car when she hit 15-year-old Marissa Procopio.
